This entry-level position is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of component and assembly modeling and detail drawing creation of products using 3D CAD tools (Solidworks). This position may require direction from more senior positions, Project Managers and management; assists with determinations on materials, weights, stresses and overall design integrity; works in a team environment and facilitates CAD data management and communication.


  • Accurately changes or constructs detailed CAD component models, assembly models and drawings of a complex nature such as injection molded, cast and formed sheet metal parts.
  • Constructs working detail drawings, assemblies and systems working from sketches, design layouts or electronic files received from Project Managers, Marketing, external sources or other team members.
  • Designs with direction from management, Project Managers or more senior positions; complete products that meet form, fit and function requirements per applicable company and/or industry standards.
  • Utilizes interpersonal skills and communication skills to contribute in a team environment. 
  • Attends and contributes to multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Accepts responsibility for the accuracy and tolerance of models, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Possess or develops sound knowledge of tolerances, notes and material specifications required for all types of drawings.
  • Participates in prototype builds to assure design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Participates in brainstorming, problem-solving and proactively finding innovative solutions to electro-mechanical design and production problems.
  • Provides technical guidance and direction in the interpretation and implementation of specifications and requirements and the procurement and use of CAD files.
  • Assigns new part numbers, constructs and completes Bill of Materials and constructs electronic Notifications of Changes as required.
  • Assists with Design Reviews.
  • Participates in Bunn Quality Improvement Process.
  • Performs other assigned duties.


  • Minimum 2 years A.S. degree in drafting or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
  • S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree a plus
  • Additional education in operation of 3D CAD tools with demonstrated proficiency in operation and use of 3D CAD tools
  • Minimum of 0-5 years design experience
  • Knowledge of industry standards with mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Must be able to work well under pressure while maintaining good judgment and organizational skills
  • Ability to accept and manage change and adversity
  • Balance a workload comprised of multiple projects and assignments without missing timelines
  • Possess good organization skills and work accuracy
  • Work well with others and produce results in a team environment
  • Be motivated, creative and flexible and an effective communicator.
